Mary Elizabeth Nixon Cook
Mary Elizabeth Cook was the 2nd child of William Jasper Nixon and the 2nd child born to Nancy Emily Dickson. Mary Elizabeth was born 1 Jan 1870 in Cherry Springs, Texas when Sarah Lurana was deceased. Mary Elizabeth married John Robert Cook on 8 Mar 1891 at the age of 21. . Mary Elizabeth died 30 Jan 1966 at the age of 96.

According to family members, Mary travelled by covered wagon to Texas with her father and mother in 1875 who were born in Missouri or perhaps Georgia and Mississippi, respectively, according to which census is consulted (1900, 1910 or 1920). There, her father met up with his own father and made their home. Mary was the first telephone operator in Clairette, TX. She was a Baptist. She never had a store-bought piece of clothing, but made all her own clothes. She was known by friends as "Molly". She was suspicious of banks and thus never used them. In the 1930 census Mary was living alone.
