Bob graduated from Butler High School in 1934 and later from Allegheny College. He worked at the Mellon Bank as assistant loan officer for 36 years. His first wife, Lucille Walsh with whom he had two children died in 1980. Afterwards he married Rebecca Mae Kennedy Freehling in June 1981 and they lived in Butler. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He also served with the Army Air Corps in Burma and India during World War II. He became ill and was in Saxony Health Center Nursing Home in Saxonburg for many months before his death.
