April was educated in the Butler school system, and was Junior Miss Pageant in her high school years. April attended Dickinson College in Carlisle where she graduated with a law degree. After passing the bar exam, she worked in a private firm for some time before accepting a position as counsel to the medical board for the State of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. In the summer of 1999 April left this position and is working in partnership with another attorney.
