Jim lived with his parents in Evans City, PA from the time he was born until the age of 9. In the Fall of 1966 the entire family moved to an apartment in Glendale Heights, IL which was near Chicago, IL, where Jim's father worked at Moody Bible Institute. Two years later the family moved to a home in Wheaton, IL. Jim graduated from Wheaton Central HS in 1975. The following year he was accepted at LeTourneau University (at the time LeTourneau College) for the Fall 1976 academic year. Jim graduated from LeTourneau in the summer of 1981 with a BSEET degree. After graduation he remained at Longview, TX where he worked at Marathon LeTourneau as an electronics technician.

In 1984, Jim applied to work at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, TX and was accepted for employment in November. This precipitated a move to an apartment in North Richland Hills, TX. The next several years were filled with some overseas and domestic travel, and local community and church activities. On December 20, 1987 Rachel Star Robinson and he were married in a church ceremony after the culmination of several years of friendship and ministry together and took up residence in Fort Worth, TX. In May 2003 Jim was elected to the Haltom City Council and served for 10 years, representing five 2 year terms. At the present Jim & Rachel live in Haltom City, TX where Jim is active in the local Republican Party. Both Jim & Rachel are avid gardeners and enjoy working together on home projects and being a source of blessing in their local community.
