Marjorie was educated locally, graduated from Indiana State Teacher's college and became a home economics teacher at Winfield Clinton High School. Her uncle was Roy McClymonds, then principal of the school. Rather than drive from her home every day, she boarded at Aunt Effie's home, and at the Bicker's home. There she met Gene and they were later married.

Marjorie became a full time homemaker and they had three sons. She is a member of Cabot United Methodist Church which is where the boys were raised. She is also a member of the Winfield Grange and the Butler County Home Economics Association.
