Biographical information was last updated: August 30, 2025.

Raymond worked for Alcoa Aluminum for 10 years while he and Ruth lived in New Kensington. Later he worked as a road supervisor for Buffalo Township, then at the Butler County Mushroom Farm, then for the United State Postal Service in Sarver. They lived for a time in Laneville where Raymond and Ruth managed the little store that was at the junction of the pike (356) and the lower street of Laneville. They built a house north of Freeport in 1946/7 where they remained until the house was destroyed due to highway construction so they built again in 1949 in Sarverville. I remember him as a kindly man and he and my dad (Kenneth Hesselgesser) were good friends.

He became ill 21 May 1960 while Ruth was recuperating from the flu. their Freeport doctor was called but the phone was busy, so they called another local man who came out and immediately called an ambulance, but by the time they arrived Raymond had died of a heart attack.
