Howard was raised on the farm in rural Sarver. He was educated in the local public schools and attended the Methodist Church of Freeport.
Howard and Elsie built a brick house at 852 North Pike road, Cabot which is on 356 between Butler and Hannahstown. Howard worked for the Butler Works of Armco from which he retired. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990 and were members of the Cabot United Methodist Church. Click here for the published announcement. After Elsie died, Howard eventually relocated to Concordia in Hannahstown.
